Our Know Your Rights Workshops

Riverside Legal Aid offers a variety of free and low-cost legal workshops and clinics to help individuals navigate common legal challenges. These sessions are designed to provide legal guidance, resources, and support for those representing themselves in areas such as family law, probate, housing rights, and bankruptcy.

Unless otherwise noted, clients must meet certain income and residency qualifications to participate. Some workshops are open to the public on a walk-in basis, while others require or recommend appointments. Services are provided by experienced attorneys and legal professionals committed to expanding access to justice in Riverside County.

From one-on-one probate consultations to tenant rights education and bankruptcy support, our workshops are designed to meet people where they are—with compassion, clarity, and practical information. Explore the options below for details on each workshop and how to attend.

Know Your Rights Workshops

Our Know Your Rights Workshops offer free legal education to tenants on housing issues including eviction defense, unlawful detainers, unsafe living conditions, and unfair landlord practices. Workshops are led by experienced attorneys and are open to the public—no appointment required.

These free tenant-rights workshops cover eviction defense, unfair landlord practices, unlawful detainers, unsafe housing conditions, and access to safe, habitable housing—regardless of residency status.

Family Law Clinic

Riverside Legal Aid’s Family Law Clinic provides free legal assistance to individuals facing family law matters such as divorce, child custody and visitation, paternity, support, and domestic violence restraining orders. The clinic is open to the public and operates on a first-come, first-served basis—no appointment is necessary.

Free Walk-In Legal Resource Clinic

Riverside Legal Aid offers a free walk-in Legal Resource Clinic that provides general legal information and brief guidance related to conservatorships, guardianships, and decedent small estates. The clinic is intended to help individuals better understand court processes and available resources and does not provide full representation or assistance with all probate matters. No appointment is required.

Free Bankruptcy & Federal Court Help (Pro-Se Clinic)

Riverside Legal Aid offers a free Pro-Se Litigant Clinic providing on-site legal information and guidance from volunteer attorneys to individuals representing themselves in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. No appointment is required. Early arrival is encouraged. Clinics are closed on all court and federal holidays.

Probate Accounting Clinic

Riverside Legal Aid offers a free Probate Accounting Clinic providing individualized, one-on-one review of accounting schedules and consultations with an attorney. This clinic is ideal for individuals managing probate-related financial responsibilities who need guidance preparing or reviewing court-required documents.

Clinics are held on the first Tuesday of every month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at our downtown Riverside office:

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
