About Riverside Legal Aid
Riverside Legal Aid (officially the Public Service Law Corporation) was founded in 1982 by the Riverside County Bar Association to meet the critical legal needs of Riverside County’s underserved communities. That mission remains unchanged: to provide meaningful access to justice for those who can’t afford it.
In its early days, Riverside Legal Aid relied solely on volunteer attorneys and had just two support staff. Today, it supports approx. 4,000 clients annually with a dedicated team of over 20 paid staff—including attorneys and legal professionals—alongside an invaluable network of volunteers.
Riverside Legal Aid offers one-on-one legal consultations, document preparation services, and limited-scope representation for those facing serious legal challenges. Core service areas include family law, small estate probate, conservatorships, guardianships, consumer debt defense, and eviction defense. It also runs bankruptcy clinics in Riverside and the Coachella Valley.
In 2022, Riverside Legal Aid was recognized as Non-Profit of the Year by California State Senator, Richard D. Roth and more recently was awarded the Community Anchor Award by Lift to Rise a non-profit committed to affordable housing reform in the Coachella Valley.
