Decedent Clinic

Riverside Legal Aid offers free assistance to qualifying low-income self-represented individuals who need assistance with probate issues relating to the death of an individual. Some examples include the following:

  • Protections for the surviving family of the decedent
  • Collecting the income or personal property of the decedent
  • Transferring title (real property, vehicles, mobile homes)
  • Dealing with creditors of the decedent
  • Collecting a debt owed to you by a decedent
  • Avoiding or minimizing disruption to public benefits caused by an inheritance
  • Applying for an exemption or waiver of a Medi-Cal Lien
  • Opening, administering, and closing a probate estate administration
  • Contesting a will, or opposing a will contest
  • Recovering misappropriated assets
  • Unfunded Trusts
